Delores is an short, pudgy old woman with long silver dread locks. She lives on the grounds of the old Milwaukee Country Club alongside a massive rabbit population. She gardens a sizable plot of vegetable to support herself, but mostly to feed her bunnies and keep them plump and happy. She considers herself their protector and only kind of jokingly call herself the Bunny Queen. Her love for the rabbits knows no bounds, and occasionally borders on an obsession. She has been know to sleep outside, completely exposed to the elements to protect them from predators or poachers.
The one, and seemingly only, thing that can send Delores into a rage is to discover that people have been hunting or trapping her rabbits. Delores becomes a creature of fury and is not at all afraid to hurt somebody who harms a single hare on her property.
In addition to rabbits, Delores has a soft spot for children and has been known to take in orphans from time to time. There are usually anywhere from 2-8 young children living on the grounds, working with her to maintain the garden, ground and collect rabbit poop for fuel.
Delores' first memories are of the world falling apart in the apocalypse. Her parents were physicians and were desperately fearful as people fell ill and died all around them. They established a practice at the country club were they were members. In the beginning they served only other club members, but as that population died off they began to charge enormous amounts for even basic care. Even as a child Delores felt that this kind of extortion was wrong in a time of need and often saw people denied care even when the consequences were sure to be deadly. In these times of emotional crisis Delores retreated to the woods and soon began feeding and caring for wild rabbits instead.
After her parents death, Delores took over the Club and grounds and began building her bunny utopia. She had learned healing techniques from watching her parents and reading some of their old guides and text books. She has a decent amount of medical equipment, but little manufactured medicine, relying instead on plants and herbs for treatment. She is always looking to trade goods or services for more single use supplies like gauze etc. Needy travelers are welcome to stay a day or two in the clubhouse where she will feed them and see to any medical needs. Guests that overstay their welcome, however, will soon learn that Delores is handy with a bow and has a protection agreement with a tough gang of mercenaries nearby.
